Chotaro Banba, better known as "Bancho", is an over-enthusiastic Osakan gangster-turned-good.
Introduction[]
Bancho was recruited into the A.E.G.I.S. team only because Shun believed Bancho 'has the eyes of a Gate Keeper'. With the mindset of a samurai, Bancho likens the girls in the Gatekeepers team as princesses and himself as their hero.
Background[]
After he was recruited into A.E.G.I.S. Bancho was often seen in the same classes as Shun Ukiya and Ruriko Ikusawa. During fights, Bancho would use his physical strength to assist the Gatekeepers. Bancho had a habit of acting overly silly at times, along with a tendency to sometimes overreact.
While on the way to stop an Invader invasion lead by Reiji Kageyama, Bancho watched as Kaoru Konoe jumped off the car to stop a wolf-like Invader from following them. Through his desire to protect Kaoru, he was able to activate his latent Gate ability, the Gate of Solid Crush, which seemingly attracted Kaoru Konoe (perhaps because of the similarity of their gate types).
Trivia[]
- Unlike most Gatekeepers Bancho's Gate power manifested out of a strong desire to protect Kaoru from Reiji's Invader allies, rather than any personal tragedy.
- In GK 1985, Bancho helps Ukiya break the Siege of the Far Eastern Branch and is able to break open certain walls in the Base that even Ukiya could not break with his "Vaccum Missile." Bancho battles the Invader army on the surface while the battle with Shinigami happens below.
- It is unclear what happens to him after the batlle of 1970.
