Gate of Foresight

Reigi Kageyama, once known as Yuji Mitsuoka and a former ally of the Invaders.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

At a young age by many tragedies in his family, his original Gate of Foresight was warped into the Black Gate of Darkness. He possesses clairvoyance, which the Commander theorizes helped him open his gate initially by allowing him to 'Grasp a future beyond his reach'. A formidable enemy, Kageyama's secret identity is not discovered until it's almost too late, even though he had been befriended by Shun as a student of Tategami High School.

Background[edit | edit source]

Reiji's real name is revealed to be Yuji Mitsuoka, the son of a rich man who was duped by one of his associates.

Reiji was always one the most devious and cunning of the Invader's allies. He easily integrated himself into the high school the other Gatekeepers and used his words to woo people to his cause. His apparent similarity is what eventually causes Megumi Kurogane to turn as well.

He is ultimately defeated by Shun and his allies. This causes Reiji to reawaken to his original Gate Power, and he eventually re-emerges years later as an A.E.G.I.S. authority, using his abilities to help fund A.E.G.I.S.' work. His personality has also stabilized, though he is able to employ both sides of his Gate as needed. Sadly, his over use of his Gate has cost him physicaly. Parts of his body disappear, if he over uses his gate, thanks to this he has various prosthetics in and on his body.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Unlike most Gatekeepers, Reiji is able to use both sides of his gate power at will. However, it seems to put a great deal of stress on his body after he uses both the normal and minus-gate at the same time.
  • It's possible the Ghost Girls Reverse Gate of Rebirth restored Reiji's lost limbs near the end of Gate Keepers 21, though this is uncertain.
  • Kageyama never believed he was the "bad guy." Even when he took over Tokyo he truly believed that he was protecting man kind from becoming the "maggots" that would later feed the new generation of Invaders who can turn humans into invaders. He foresaw the corrupt world of 2001 with his Gate of Foresight.
  • He uses his Gate of Foresight to become one of the wealthiest people in Japan based on his stock choices and business decisions.
